Matador 18L Packable Backpack (Standard + Waterproof) Review

"Packs to Nothing"

The accessory every traveler needs. It packs down to nothing in your travel bag, then becomes your daypack on the other side. Extra capacity when you need it, no bulk when you don’t.

Comes in two versions: the standard 18L for most trips, and the waterproof 18L for when the weather means business.

What I like

  • Packs down to nothing in your travel bag, then becomes your daypack on the other side.
  • The standard 18L is the one I reach for most. Nice front pocket, a quick access pocket on the top back, simple solid straps, light.
  • The waterproof 18L is roll top plus a zip, with the seams taped inside. That's the let's-go-to-Thailand one. Its front pocket has an internal zip.
  • Both have water bottle pockets.
  • Tiny minimal product tags and simple bar-tacked hypalon logos. Utility over branding.

Specs

  • 18L each: standard (weather resistant) and waterproof (roll top, taped seams)

The Daily Stuffable

The packable backpack I'd reach for most of the time. Simple, light, weatherproof enough, with a nice pocket up front and a quick-access stash on the top back. It disappears into your travel bag, then becomes your daypack on the other side.
