What I like

• Comfort. Juicy padded straps, padded hip straps with pockets, and one of the gushiest, softest back panels on the market
• Adjustable torso length with a big velcro back panel, so you can set it for your frame
• One huge main compartment, about as big as carry-on gets. Simple: one big bucket, front admin, laptop pocket
• Tough sailcloth-type fabric that shrugs off water, dirt and abrasion. Built to last a long time
• Water-sealed zips that run smooth around the rounded corners
• Front admin panel folds all the way down with felted pockets, plus a flat front pocket for an iPad or documents
• Laptop pocket on the back with a little zippered mesh tech pocket for my charger and drive
• Two deep water bottle pockets that hold my big 32 oz Owala

Watch for

• Heavy at 4.5 lb
• Hip straps come off with velcro, but leave them on and they dangle when you're tossing it in the overhead
• Quick access pocket could be a bit deeper
• The 40L is too big as a day pack and could get flagged on strict European airlines. Consider the smaller size
• Laptop pocket doesn't open all the way flat
