The DUO from Wandrd is a killer daily tech rambler with enough organization for the most fussy among us and solid weather protection for all your tech gear.
Material Choice:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
As far as durable, water resistant, "rubberized" stuff goes, this external material (840D Jr. Ballistic Nylon with a newly developed 5pm coating) behaves really nicely. And you get all the benefits of water resistance, wiping off dirt and gunk, keeping your tech gear clean and protected.
Build Quality:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
Solid stuff. Wandrd are definitely growing their design and build chops.
Water Resistance:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
Real good at resisting the water. All zips are YKK water resistant zips. Material is water proof.
External Access:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
Front flat pocket, top quick access pocket, water bottle, hidden passport pocket, luggage passthrough. But THEN you can access anywhere in the bag with the infinite zip feature. Comes in surprisingly handy, especially for on-body access to the bottom-sides of the bag. (Watch vid for more info on this.)
Internal Organization:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
If you can carry the way this thing wants you to carry, you're going to be stoked with the carry every day. Padded elastic pouches, collapsible padded camera insert, lots of pouches and zipped places to store stuff so it doesn't all fall to the bottom of the bag. And then the "infinite zip" thing means you can access that stuff real accurately while on the go. Great design.
Capacity:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
Can you tell that it's a little taller than many bags? The internal organization can cut away at the capacity a bit, depending on how you have it set up. But you can fit a S/M packing cube in there on top of the camera cube. 20L on this thing is a great size for every day carry.
Carry Comfort:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
Solid. Really solid straps and back panel with molded foam for some breathability. Feels comfortable and agile even when packed to the brim with a heavy load.
Doesn't Look Weird:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
It can get a little bulgy or saggy on the front, but just a little. Black on black on black with a clean silhouette is solid.
Extra Score:Sub-Par Satisfactory Excellent
Extra points for Wandrd for all the thoughtfulness brought to this design. They chose great materials and solved some interesting carry problems for a lot of us with this thing.
Other Bags to Check Out:
The Velo backpack from Rickshaw Bags is an awesome, simple bag that comes in a few different sizes.
The Daylight Backpack from Tom Bihn is a workhorse of a packable daypack.
One of the highest rated daily backpacks in the world due to it's accessibility, organization, comfort and capacity. Stick to it for some time and you'll see what we mean. Dad-bag looks tho.
Easily one of my favorite bags for serious urban and outdoor daily carry. The Alpha 31 from Remote Equipment is a delight to use and will remain durable for years and years.
Ok, these bags from Nomatic are chock full of pockets. There are 2 different bags: the Travel Pack expands up to about 30L, perfect for short trips and minimal travel. The Backpack is 20-24L daily carry. Both are very sleek and, like I said, so many pocketzzz!
